Privacy Policy — Dohe (दोहे)
Last updated: 24 October 2026
Dohe is an Android app published by AM Labs (“we”, “us”) with the dohe of Kabir, Rahim and Tulsidas and the padas of Surdas. This policy explains what happens to information when you use it.
Short version: the app has no account and sends us nothing. Everything you do in it — dohe you save, what you have read, your settings — stays on your phone. The app shows ads from Google AdMob, and that service collects technical information described below.
1. Information stored on your device
The dohe themselves are built into the app. To remember your place, the app stores the following in its private storage on your device:
- dohe you have saved, and the ones you have recently read;
- which dohe you have read, and your reading streak (days in a row);
- your settings: theme, language, text size, reading speed and the daily reminder time.
None of this is sent to us; we have no server that could receive it. If Android’s own device backup is turned on for your Google account, Android may include this app data in that backup, under Google’s backup terms.
Read aloud uses the text-to-speech engine installed on your phone (for example Google’s Speech Services). The text of the doha is handed to that engine to be spoken; how the engine works is governed by its provider.
Sharing and copying. When you share a doha as text or as a picture, the app creates the picture on your device and hands it to the app you choose. What happens next is governed by that app.
2. Advertising (Google AdMob)
The app shows a banner on browsing screens and, occasionally, a full-screen ad when you close the reader. The Google Mobile Ads SDK collects information directly: your device’s advertising ID, IP address (which gives an approximate location), device model, operating system version, and your interactions with ads. Google uses it to select, show and measure ads and to prevent fraud. We receive only aggregated reports, never anything about what you read in the app. See policies.google.com/technologies/ads and policies.google.com/privacy.
The app does not use any analytics or crash-reporting service.
3. Your choices about ads
In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, the app shows a Google-certified consent message the first time it runs, and no ads are requested until you answer it. You can change your answer at any time from Settings → Ad privacy choices.
Anywhere, you can reset or delete your advertising ID from your device’s system settings (Settings → Google → Ads, or Settings → Privacy → Ads), which limits ad personalisation.
4. Notifications and widget
If you turn on Daily doha, the app asks for permission to show notifications and posts one notification a day with the doha of the day. It is scheduled on your phone; nothing is sent to us. The optional home-screen widget shows the same doha. You can turn either off at any time.
5. Permissions
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
INTERNET, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE |
Loading ads and the ad consent message |
POST_NOTIFICATIONS |
The daily doha notification, only if you turn it on |
AD_ID and the Android AdServices permissions |
Added by the Google Mobile Ads SDK for advertising |
WAKE_LOCK, FOREGROUND_SERVICE |
Added by Android’s WorkManager library, which schedules the daily reminder |
The app does not request access to your contacts, camera, microphone, location, photos or files.
6. Children
Dohe is a general-audience app and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
7. Deleting your information
In the app, Saved → History → Clear history removes your reading history, and you can unsave any doha. Uninstalling the app deletes everything it stored on your device. To ask about data held by Google’s advertising services, use the links in section 2.
8. Changes
If this policy changes materially, the updated version will be published at this address with a new date at the top.
