Privacy Policy — Notebook

Notebook is an Android app published by AM Labs (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what happens to information when you use it.

Short version: your notes stay on your device. We do not operate a server, we have no account system, and we never receive the text of anything you write. The app does show ads and report crashes, and those services collect technical information described below.

1. What you write

Notebooks and notes are stored in a database in the app’s private storage on your device. They are not uploaded to us and we cannot read them.

Backups. If you export or back up, the file is written to a location you choose through Android’s system file picker — a folder on your device, or a folder in a cloud service you already use such as Google Drive, OneDrive or Dropbox. The file goes directly from the app to that destination. It does not pass through any server of ours, and we do not hold a copy. Once a backup is in a third-party cloud folder, that provider’s own privacy policy applies to it.

Sharing a note. When you use Share or Send a copy, the content goes to whichever app you pick. What happens next is governed by that app.

2. Information collected by third-party services

The app includes three Google services. Each collects information directly; we receive only aggregated reports, never your note content.

Google AdMob (advertising)

Serves the banner, native, interstitial, app-open and rewarded ads. It may collect your device’s advertising ID, IP address (which gives an approximate location), device model and operating system version, and interactions with ads. This is used to select and measure ads. See policies.google.com/technologies/ads.

Google Analytics for Firebase (usage statistics)

Collects app-usage events, an app-instance identifier, device model and operating system version, so we can see which features are used.

Firebase Crashlytics (crash reporting)

When the app crashes it sends a crash report containing the stack trace, device model, operating system version and the app version.

3. Your choices about ads

In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, the app shows a Google-certified consent message the first time it runs, and no ads are requested until you answer it. You can change your answer at any time from Settings → Ad privacy settings.

Anywhere, you can reset or delete your advertising ID from your device’s system settings (Settings → Google → Ads), which limits ad personalisation.

You can also remove banner ads for 24 hours at a time from Settings → Remove ads for a day.

4. Permissions

The app does not request access to your contacts, camera, microphone, precise location, or your files at large. Backup access is limited to the single folder or file you pick each time.

5. Children

Notebook is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

6. Deleting your information

Uninstalling the app deletes every note stored on your device. Backup files you created stay wherever you saved them until you delete them yourself.

7. Changes

If this policy changes materially, the updated version will be published at this address with a new date at the top.
