Relay — Privacy Policy
Relay is a file and network manager. It sends nothing to AMCRAFTS: there is no account, no analytics and no telemetry. It does show advertising: one banner on the Home screen, served by Google through the Google Mobile Ads SDK. This page states exactly what data exists, where it stays and what leaves your device.
What Relay does not do
- No analytics and no crash reporting to AMCRAFTS.
- No AMCRAFTS account or sign-in, because there is no AMCRAFTS service.
- No upload of your files to AMCRAFTS. Files move between your device and the servers you configure, and nowhere else.
- No telemetry of any kind, including anonymous usage statistics.
Advertising
| Where | A single banner at the bottom of the Home screen. No ads in file listings, transfers, the connection form, settings, or full-screen. |
|---|---|
| Who serves it | Google, through the Google Mobile Ads SDK. |
| Consent | Where the law requires it (for example in the EEA and the UK), Google's User Messaging Platform asks for your consent before the ads SDK starts. If consent is not given, no ad is requested. |
| Changing your mind | Settings → Security → Ad privacy choices, shown wherever a way back to the consent form is required. |
| What the SDK collects | According to Google's disclosure: device or other identifiers (including the advertising ID), IP address and approximate location derived from it, interactions with ads, and diagnostic information. This is shared with Google to serve, measure and protect ads. Google's Privacy Policy governs it. |
| What Relay gives the SDK | Nothing about what you do in Relay. Ad requests carry no file names, file contents, server addresses, user names, passwords or keys. |
| Advertising ID | You can reset or delete it in Android's settings (usually under Privacy → Ads; wording varies by device). |
What is stored on your device
Everything below stays in app-private storage, readable by no other app.
| Data | Protection | Removed by |
|---|---|---|
| Saved server settings (name, protocol, host, port, user name, path) | Not encrypted | Deleting the server |
| Passwords, passphrases and SSH private keys | Encrypted (AES-256-GCM) with a key held by the device keystore | Deleting the server, or Settings → Security → Forget all saved passwords |
| Trusted SSH host key fingerprints | Public data | Settings → Security → SSH host keys |
| Favourites, recent items, transfer history, sync profiles, preferences | Not encrypted | Settings → Advanced (clear recent items, reset settings), or deleting the item |
| App-lock PIN | Stored as a salted PBKDF2 hash, never in the clear | Settings → Security → Turn off app lock |
| Cached previews and staged downloads | Not encrypted | Settings → Advanced → Clear cached previews |
| Diagnostic log (last 500 entries) | Memory only, redacted | Closing the app, or Settings → Advanced → Clear log |
| Your consent answer and the ads SDK's own data | Written by Google's libraries | Ad privacy choices, or clearing the app's data |
The credential store, the database and the preference store are excluded from Android cloud backup and device-to-device transfer.
What leaves your device
- To the servers you configured: file listings and file contents, to the address, port and protocol you entered. Relay has no default or bundled server and contacts no other host on your behalf.
- From other devices on your local network, only when you start Web Share or the FTP server. Both are off by default, show a notification while running, and stop when you stop them.
- To Google, for advertising, as described above.
- Nothing else. No update check, no configuration fetch, no licence check.
Some protocols are not encrypted: plain FTP and WebDAV over HTTP send credentials and data in readable form, and SMB sessions are signed but file contents are not encrypted. Relay marks these connections as not encrypted.
Permissions
| Permission | Used for |
|---|---|
| Internet, network state, Wi-Fi state | Connecting to your servers, deciding whether a transfer may start, finding this device's local address for Web Share |
| Notifications | Transfer progress and the notice that a local server is running |
| Foreground service (data sync) | Keeping a transfer running when the app is not on screen |
| Camera | Reading a QR code. Nothing is recorded and no image leaves the device |
| Biometric | Optional biometric app unlock |
| Photos, videos and audio | Listing media and generating thumbnails |
| Receive boot completed | Restoring scheduled sync after a restart |
| Advertising ID, ad services, wake lock | Added by the Google Mobile Ads SDK for showing, measuring and personalising ads |
Relay does not request All Files Access, precise location or the installed-apps list.
Diagnostics
Settings → Advanced → Diagnostics can copy a report to your clipboard. It contains app and Android version, device model, network type, storage figures, counts of saved items and the results of the checks. It contains no passwords, keys, server addresses, user names, file names, file contents, location or advertising identifiers. Relay never transmits it.
Children
Relay is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children.
Changes
If what Relay collects changes, this page is updated and the date above changes with it.
